The host nation will be hoping to improve on their best performance at a World T20 Tournament in front of their own passionate supporters. To do so, they will need to go beyond the semi-finals, which they reached in the first two editions of the competition.

In 2009 they were beaten by New Zealand at Trent Bridge in Nottingham by 52 runs, and again reached the last four in 2010. On that occasion it was the eventual champions Australia who defeated them at the Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia by seven wickets.

The 2012 competition in Sri Lanka and the 2014 in Bangladesh, both saw the Indian side fail to get beyond the Pool stage.
Bangladesh Woman did not compete at the first three of the World Tournaments, as the competition was limited to just eight sides. Their first participation came in 2014, when they hosted the tournament.

Although finishing bottom of their Pool, they did managed to secure a victory, when they beat Sri Lanka by three runs in their final game. They had faced Tuesday's opponents in an earlier Pool fixture, going down by a huge margin in T20 cricket of 79 runs, when they managed to post just 72-8 in 20 overs.

It would be a major surprise on Tuesday, if the hosts do not start with an emphatic victory. They are currently ranked fourth by the ICC, with their opponents ninth of the ten teams. With England, the West Indies and Pakistan making up the rest of the Pool, the hosts should at least make the semi-finals, although they will do very well to unseat England who should top the Pool.
